Yea just like dogs some cats are very protective. My family has had cats that would chase dogs off our property; and even prevent strangers going up stairs when the baby was sleeping.

We have 2 cats. one is anti social. when he gets combative, the other one puts the beatdown on him. Im thinking this cat was protecting the kid.
